Refurbishment and extension of the existing Arts building on the Banbury campus to create a new School of Creative Arts. The school houses workshops, art studios, and media facilities. Environmental sustainability was key to the design which featured natural ventilation throughout and a complete thermal upgrade of the building.
With the increased cladding and insulation, control of the solar heat gain in the building was important to help the natural ventilation cool the building and maintain comfortable temperatures within. Bespoke Stainless Steel mesh screens were installed by Contrasol and fixed off the facade with larger bespoke roof level brackets and secured down at ground level with stainless steel tension wires.
