Contrasol offers a diverse range of louvre profiles ranging from basic screening louvres to high-performance solutions that can be designed for rain defence and acoustic control. Our louvre blades are carefully chosen to match the airflow and water-repellent requirements of each specific project. These louvres are securely attached and supported by a variety of aluminum support profiles, specifically chosen to match the size and shape of the opening. In order to meet performance specifications, we also offer insulation panels, blanking sheets, and insect mesh options for the rear of our louvre panels.

On July 4th of this year, the world experienced its hottest day ever recorded, underscoring the escalating impact of climate change on our planet. As sustainability takes centre stage in addressing these concerns, there arises an urgent need to explore alternative cooling methods for buildings, to mitigate the human effects of increased temperatures.

Solar shading solutions such as brise soleil offers an effective, sustainable and visually appealing solution shading to reducing solar heat gain and creating a more comfortable environment for a buildings’ occupants.

A Danish simulation-based study showed that external solar shading can reduce overheating below the specified limits in all tested cases by 74-92%. In contrast, internal solar shading was shown to reduce overheating below the specified limits by 20-40% only in combination with mechanical ventilation and only for the south or east orientation.

Contrasol have completed the design, manufacture and installation of a range of systems across this new development at Whitehill & Bordon Enterprise Park. The highlight being the large bespoke 600mm deep vertical fins, free spanning 7.5m high. These fins are fixed across the main office building façade providing one of main features of the development in addition to functional solar shading.

Smaller vertical fins from our standard range, with the same timber effect finish are used around the car park structure to help tie the two buildings together and help them compliment the surrounding area. The final element consisted of our louvre screen system to the roof of the office building, providing a cost effective and aesthetic finish around the external plantroom.
