Sustainability

Today, the pressure for sustainable development has increased in priority around the globe. Environmental and ecological factors will, in future, have an equal priority in influencing new products and process development.

Aluminium

Aluminium and its alloys have many advantages for building designers and users. For many reasons aluminium is an obvious choice:

  • Aluminium has built-in corrosion resistance and can stand unprotected in the open, subject to the elements
  • Aluminium has excellent formability. It can be rolled, roll formed, extruded, bent, pressed in different ways and shaped into any design without negative side effects
  • Aluminium can be surface treated in many attractive finishes including painting, anodising and powder coating

The basis of aluminium’s claim to be the most ‘environmental friendly’ of materials is its energy effectiveness:

  • In thermal properties; insulation in the alu-product range – aluminium prevents heat loss from a building and reduces heat loads in summer
  • Recycling; 90% of all of our aluminium products are from recycled materials
  • Aesthetics; aluminium does not rust and maintains its original aesthestic effect far longer than most materials

Timber

All of our Western Red Cedar Louvres or Fins are manufactured from materials produced from sustainable forests.

Timber louvres or fins offer an excellent alternative to aluminium. Whilst holding its shape and form, the aesthetics of the timber gives a naturally ageing finish.
