Sliding Shutters and Fixed Timber Brise Soleil

This contemporary four bedroom house was designed to sit within the beautiful countryside setting overlooking the South Downs. The top floor is clad in Western Red Cedar which will be allowed to naturally weather to help the building fit into the landscape and a large amount of glazing was also used in the build to maximise the views and natural internal light.
To provide the required shading we installed our fixed timber Brise Soleil across the large double height reception space while our sliding shutters are fixed within the timber facade. The shutter screens slide out from a pocket within the cladding structure across the windows. Fixed timber fins in the screens are pitched to provide shading in the summer and allow the lower winter sun in to help warm the house.
