This comprehensive secondary school formally called South Camden Community School was a BAM construction project with a mixture of new build and refurbishment work. Some of the main design elements for the project were to create brighter teaching spaces, circulation routes and improve the external space for the students.
Contrasol provided vertical WRC timber bays to act as Brise Soleil and Walkway Screens. The large size of the bays and varied fixing grounds required a lot of early design work with our structural engineer for our first fix bracketry and support structure. The timber bays provided the balance between form and function required on this project, reducing solar heat gain while creating a softer natural look to the external facades.
