Product:

400mm Aerofoil Fin

Architect:

Stride Treglown

The University of Readings Health and Life Sciences Building is a new build project recently handed over to our client Balfour Beatty and features striking multi coloured 400mm horizontal feature fins in order to provide the correct balance between shading, light and external views. The project designed by Stride Treglown Architects is a £33 million state of the art facility which provides purpose-built research and teaching laboratories over four floors and will incorporate the School of Biological Sciences which was previously located in several buildings across the campus. The project is part of the Universities 10-year campus regeneration programme. The new building will have reconfigurable teaching spaces which will facilitate teaching groups of up to 280 which will be one of the largest in the UK.
We collaborated closely with our engineering partners to ensure that the architectural facade could accommodate the needs of our specialist system and also worked closely with Balfour Beatty during the tender process to ensure that the product solution offered met with the Architect and Universities standards and expectations to provide a world-class research facility.
From initial concept through to installation our in house designers brought their skills, experience, drive and client awareness required to complete the project to our customer requirements.
Contrasol have worked in collaboration with the University of Reading since 2011. Early contractor engagement also enabled our pre construction team to fully partici pate in the design proposal to provide the most cost-effective solution.
