A combined recreation, sports, leisure and housing development occupying an eight hectare suburban site. Studio E Architects led a multi-disciplinary design team including specialist housing architects, building services, engineers, structural engineers and landscape consultants, to develop residential proposals to cross-fund the development of a new leisure centre incorporating an indoor swimming pool, fitness suit and associated facilities. The leisure centre replaced an existing facility that was no longer cost effective to run and did not provide the range of facilities that the community needed. Key to the design was gaining planning consent and support from the local community through sensitive integration of optimised residential proposals and improvements to associated public open space.
Contrasol designed supplied and installed horizontal aluminium fins, after working with the project team architects from the very early stages to ensure a smooth transition from concept to completion, with an elegantly engineered product solution.
