A £78m project for The University of Manchester, involving the delivery of 1,122 study bedrooms arranged in cluster flats across 8 new-build blocks along with high quality landscaping and external works.
The development is served by a new standalone Energy Centre incorporating electricity substation and district heating plant. The focal point of the scheme is ‘The Meadow’, a student Amenity Hub which provides contemporary study space, a student lounge, movie/gaming room and University staff facilities.
The blocks are constructed using pre-fabricated lightweight steel framing system panels which provide structure to the building when used along with composite concrete floors. External materials are predominantly buff brickwork with feature elevations picked out in charcoal fibre cement slate roofing and cladding. Study bedrooms incorporate built-in storage and furnishings and a high specification pre-fabricated GRP en-suite shower pod.
Contrasol were engaged on a total package basis, from the early design stages of the project in order to provide valued samples and build-ability options, which led to the successful design and installation of specialist anodised fins and cladding systems, build on the strength of our reputation for quality, reliability and attention to detail.
